World of football Version 0.10 is now live!

In celebration of Big Bite Games’ One Year Anniversary we’ve now opened the Alpha to all players! We need to test our servers and to better achieve this we’ve removed the invite process. So if you haven’t had access to the Alpha before you can now play the game! We hope you will enjoy our game!

A new build has been uploaded with the following updates:

  • You can now choose your own colors for your club! Please note that before you can start a match you will be asked to choose your colours.
  • Footballers now have their shirt numbers displayed on the back of their shirts
  • We’ve added a little crowd noise to add some atmosphere to the game.
  • The Online Activity bar now shows people waiting for a match in a lobby and on-going matches separately.
  • A large refactoring of the server code has been completed which removed a lot of bugs and ensures more stability.

Next steps:

  • We’re currently working on implementing a team manager. Your favourite starting eleven and substitutes can be chosen for your lineup.
  • Footballers will earn Experience Points when they play matches. When they reach a higher level they get Ability Points which you can then distribute onto specific attributes. This gives you the possibility of shaping the ongoing development of your individual footballers.

Please remember:

  • All features are not yet fully implemented and may not work as intended. Keep this in mind when reporting issues, or speaking about the game in public.
  • If you experience few testers online and can’t find someone to play against, we suggest you use our forum to arrange matches or log on during announced test periods. You can also invite your friends and ask them to play.
  • Unfortunately, the Alpha build will run on European servers only, so people living outside Europe can expect a poor overall experience or even an unplayable game due to lag issues.

Version 0.8 is now Live!

New features
We have updated to a new version with the following features:

  • Online activity is back! You can now see how many people are online, how many are waiting to join games and how many ongoing matches are running. This should help you find people to play against.
  • Load times have been greatly reduced, and general stability has been improved. You should now experience faster load when joining any game.
  • Practice mode: A new game mode can be found in the play menu. In this game mode, you can practice alone against a goal keeper. Use this game mode to hone your skills, before playing against other players!
  • New design: The new design is taking form, and we have redesigned several screens.
  • New settings page for creating party matches: We have added lots of settings to party mode. These are mostly non-functional for now, except for the game name.

Please note that you might need to clear the browser cache (Ctrl-Shift-Delete in most browsers) for updates to take effect.

Known issues

  • Internet Explorer 9 crashes when trying to play a game. This is due to the latest Unity webplayer (3.5). We are hoping that they will fix the issue soon, but in the meantime, we ask you to use Chrome or Firefox.

Upcoming Features

  • We are continuing the work on redesigning the manager screens, and improving speed and load times overall.
  • As mentioned in last version, our focus remains on getting the manager screens and functionality up and running. We will hopefully have something for you to try in a couple of weeks.

Enjoy!

Version 0.7 is now Live!

New Build
We’ve uploaded a new version with the following fixes:

  • We’ve started the roll-out of a new menu design – We hope you like it!
  • The warning text saying you’ll forfeit a match now only appears if a Quick Match has been properly started.
  • An icon bug on goal kicks have been fixed.
  • A bug that forced a rotation of the direction a footballer was facing, when taking a freekick, has been fixed.
  • We now more accurately detect where a foul is committed. This takes care of the situation where you could get fouled inside the penalty area but didn’t get a penalty kick.

Upcoming Features
We’ve completed the first pass of the realtime 3D game and we will be shifting our focus over to the manager side of things. Some of the features you can expect in the upcoming builds are:

  • Team Manager: Choose starting 11, and substitutes for next match
  • Footballer Manager: Choose individual attributes for each footballer in your team
  • Club colors: Customize your own club colors!

We hope you enjoy the upcoming changes, and keep providing your valuable feedback and bug reports.

Version 0.6 is now Live!

A new build has been uploaded with the following features:

  • The keeper has been vastly improved and it now takes a lot more skill to score a goal.
  • A penalty mini-game has been added. The keeper can be directed to try to save a penalty kick, and the penalty taker can choose an area to aim for.
  • You can now sprint! Hold down Shift to make the footballer run faster for short periods of time. After a sprint the footballer needs a little time before he can sprint again. This adds a whole new level to the gameplay where timing your runs can really make a difference.
  • Throw-ins have been improved. The ball is now actually thrown instead of kicked.
  • Quick match results are now recorded and stored in our rankings. If you win a quick match you earn 3 points. A draw nets 1 point for both teams and losing a match gets you 0 points. If you forfeit a quick match you will lose the match by 3 goals.
  • And lots of bug fixes ! :)

Version 0.5 released!

We’ve uploaded a new build with the following features:

  • The keeper has been updated; he can now jump and catch the ball, and sometimes it will bounce off of him. He has some weak spots and is still being worked on.
  • Penalty kick has been added, but as mentioned above the keeper is not great at saving them (yet).
  • The current build is now more resistant to lag and packetloss which should give a better playing experience.
  • The Online activity monitor should now display ongoing matches and quick match lobbies correctly.
For the next release we are working on polishing the goalkeeper, and implementing a first-pass ranking system.

  • The goalkeeper should now charge the ball more appropriately
  • The player direction now stays the same when passing to another footballer

Version 0.3 released!

We hope you enjoyed the holidays!

Clubs and nicknames

You can now choose a nickname when registering your club. This will be the one that is shown inside the game, instead of your first name. NOTE: All Clubs have been deleted, so you will need to re-register your club the first time you log in.

Keeper update

The keeper will now catch the ball and can run with it in his hands. Remember not to foul the keeper when he has the ball in his hands or you’ll receive a straight red card! The goalkeeper is still work in progress, so it might have become a little easier to score goals now.

Invite friends from inside the app

You can now invite friends directly into the Alpha test and they will not have to sign up and wait for access. Inside the app you’ll find a panel with a share button. Click on it to post on your wall and invite them to play with you.

Online activity

You can now see how many players are online and how many matches are being played.

New planned test periods

We’re changing the official testing periods. Please try to be online from 18:00 to 20:00 CET. If these time slots do not suit you, please let us know!

Upcoming features

  • More goalkeeper tweaks: The goalkeeper will be able to throw himself after the ball and more.
  • Ranking: A simple ranking system will be implemented, so you can start competing with your friends!
  • Survey system: We will implement an ingame survey system so we can get much needed feedback.
  • New look: We are redesigning the main screens and improving overall speed.
